Vande Mataram recited by one and all

THE NATIONAL Song ‘Vande Mataram’ was recited at several places throughout the city here as part of the nationwide centenary celebrations on Thursday.
Several functions were organised by different political parties, social, cultural, non-governmental organisations and academic institutions on Thursday to mark the occasion. A sense of patriotic feeling was palpable everywhere in the city.
Women from the minority community under the joint auspices of Muslim Women Front and Vishal Bharat Sansthan recited the National Song at Shastri Park today. Vice-president of Muslim Women Front Naznin Ansari said that Vande Mataram was the pride of the nation.
President of Vishal Bharat Sansthan Dr Rajiv Srivastava said that Indian should learn a lesson from the Muslim women of Varanasi to recite Vande-Mataram.
The activists of Bharatiya Janta Party took out a procession from Shastri Nagar Colony and after passing from several routes, it culminated near Sigra Petrol pump in front of the bust of Bal Gangadhar Tilak where the activists recited Vande Mataram and organised a meeting.
Former minister and State vice-president of BJP Surya Pratap Shahi was chief guest of the function.
BJYM activists also took out a Prabhat Pheri from Ramankatora. BJYM leader Vikas Chaudhary lead the procession.
Congress activists under the banner of District Congress Seva Dal recited Vande Mataram at Englishialine today. The function was organised under the leadership of Ashok Pandey, a chief organiser of District Congress Seva Dal.
The volunteers of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Varanasi branch, under the leadership of its president Jai Pradhawani recited the National Song at Rathyatra crossing.
Women and kids also participated in the recitation.
Yuva Gram Vikas Samiti in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra organised a seminar to mark the occasion. The activists of both the organisations recited Vande Mataram and highlighted the historical background of the National Song.
Members of different communities including Hindu, Muslim and Sikhs participated in the recitation of Vande Mataram at Bharat Mata Mandir today. The members also staged a dharna to protest the politicisation of Vande Mataram.
Muzaffarnagar: Vande Mataram centenary celebrations, marked by singing of the National Song, passed off peacefully here on Thursday.
The song was sung in many schools and the District Bar without protests.
Crowds sang the song at Tulsipark, Shiv Chowk and the Town Hall. Shiv Sena activists took out a procession with an image of ‘Bharat Mata’ on the streets of the city.
