Varsity teachers to strike work on March 1

Teachers of 18 Central varsities, including the Delhi University, would observe a one-day strike on March 1, 2006 demanding immediate constitution of sixth pay commission and the UGC Pay Review Committee.

The call for the token strike has been jointly given by Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) and the Federation of Central Universities Teachers' Organisation (FEDCUTA), a DUTA statement said in New Delhi.

The decision to this effect had been taken by FEDCUTA national executive meeting held last month and was endorsed by the DUTA general body meeting earlier this month.
