VHP on Sunday attacked BJP leader LK Advani, saying his stature among Hindus has come down.

Senior VHP leader Acharya Giriraj Kishorealso saidthat ifAdvani intended to restore his Hindutva credentials by taking out yet another yatra then it would fail.

"If he wants to spread awareness against terrorism it is welcome. But if he wants to restore his Hindutva image it shall fail as he betrayed people earlier," the VHP leader said in New Delhi.

"If Advani intended to restore his Hindutva credentials by organising the yatra it would fail," he told reporters.

Questioning the intention behind Advani's proposed national integration yatra, he said there was confusion in BJP as its president Rajnath Singh is also planning to take out a yatra.

"BJP President Rajnath Singh is also holding a yatra in Uttar Pradesh for law and order in the state. Advaniji's proposed yatra is to support it or is it a separate yatra? I think there is lack of coordination," he said.

Replying to a query, he said Advani's stature among Hindus has come down as he has lost faith in Hindutva.

Asked if it meant VHP supports Singh's yatra or there should be one yatra, he said BJP has its own Constitution and agenda and his organisation does not need to give advice or opinion to the saffron party leaders.

Earlier, VHP supremo Ashok Singhal expressed doubts whether Hindu society would support Advani's yatra.
