The police had to resort to using tear gas and lathicharged the agitators.
The police had arrested some villagers from Chaprola for their alleged involvement in a firing incident late on Friday.
Three persons were injured in the incident. Saturday's protesters were demanding the release of the suspects rounded up by the police.
The incidents follow the Panchayat polls in over 400 booths of some villages of Palwal district.
Palwal Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar said, “Some people fired at their rivals in a village last night. Some persons were injured and then we arrested the accused.”
“In reaction to the arrests, the villagers disrupted traffic on the national highway for some time on Saturday.”
He added that the police picked up some agitators for disruption peace and booked them under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
