India should resolve its problems before helping other countries
Sitaram Yechury in House is not in order (Left Hand Drive, June 26) makes a valid point. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s pledge at the G20 summit to provide $10 billion to some European nations is not in India’s interest. This amount could have been used to build our much-needed infrastructure, arrest the slide of the rupee, eradicate poverty, subsidise fuel or build silos to store rotting foodgrains.

Will this unmask Pakistan?
The arrest of Abu Jundal alias Zaibuddin Ansari, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and the man believed to have handled the 26/11 Mumbai attack from a Karachi control room, is a big success for India (DNA test, hard bargain with Saudi nets 26/11 prized catch, June 26). India should be thankful to the US and Saudi Arabia for their efforts in getting Jundal arrested as well as not giving in to Pakistan’s objections to his deportation. Hopefully, the arrest will go a long way towards exposing the role of Pakistani State actors in the Mumbai terror attack.

It’s apples and oranges
This refers to Ram Puniyani’s article What lies behind the mask? (June 25). The author’s observation that all swayamsevaks work for the agenda of a Hindu rashtra does not hold water. Also, it’s wrong to state that AB Vajpayee, LK Advani and Narendra Modi are ideologically similar because while Vajpayee was a farsighted politicians, Modi is a selfish leader.
