The first Test match at the Wankhede took place in the 1974-75 season when the West Indies toured India.

Clive Lloyd scored an unbeaten 242 after being dropped at nought and India lost the game by 201 runs. Another highlight of the Test match was a female fan kissing Brijesh Patel.

The stadium has been witness to some wonderful batting displays from Sunil Gavaskar and Alvin Kallicharan.

Ian Botham hogged the limelight in Jubilee Test in 1980 with a splendid all round performance. He blasted a century and grabbed thirteen wickets in the match.

Former Indian batsman Ravi Shastri, now a commentator, smashed six sixes in an over on his way to a whirlwind double hundred at this very venue.

The record between India and Australia, who have met three times at this venue, is even with one drawn and both teams winning a match each.
