Earlier on Sunday, Adityanath visited Reti crossing, Gita Press, Sahibganj, Chaurahia Gola and other localities where rain water had entered inside around 100 shops causing huge loss to the traders. He condemned the apathetic attitude of the municipal corporation officials and said despite lavishing expenditure in the name of drainage sanitation drive, no satisfied result could be achieved.

The traders of wholesale market in Transport Nagar were the worst affected where the rainwater entered the godowns. Traders leaders Ramesh Chand Gupta, Zahirullah, Ashwani Agrawal and others claimed that the community had suffered huge loss due to negligence on part of the municipal corporation. The traders were astonished to find two to three feet water inside every shop from Reti Crossing to Gita Press as this was the first time when something like this had happened in 50 years.

Meanwhile, municipal commissioner Anand Vardhan Pathak, said that heavy rain had made the task difficult to drain out the water. He said that generators sets were established in low-lying areas but heavy rain and low capacity of draining out the water had made things worse, he said.

Meanwhile, corporation officials identified 30 localities prone to water logging.
They established 60 pumping set to drain out water which were working 8 to 10 hour daily, at various places. Chief engineer RK Shukla said that Reti road and Sahibganj were low lying areas and the drainage was not functioning to its full capacity due to silt at the draining end in Ramgarh Tal.

He further said that the corporation had started construction of drainage at Rasoolpur, Chaksa Husain. Besides, three big drains were under construction at Indira Nagar, Bharwalia Bujurg and Padri Bazar.
