When contacted, Sitapur police chief Dava Sherpa expressed his ignorance about the matter. He could not say whether any local police official was present with the STF and J&K Police in Attaria when Imran was arrested.
Rae Bareli sources said a complaint of kidnapping was filed with Salon police station on the same day.

But, it was later reported that the STF had taken Imran into custody for interrogation, along with J&K Police. They had taken him to Lucknow.
Police officials were tight-lipped about why Imran was arrested once again at Attaria.

The Rae Bareli superintendent of police said he had no knowledge of Imran’s arrest by the STF on March 22.He said it was only three days ago that the J&K Police contacted him and produced warrants for the arrest of Imran.

Additional superintendent of police, STF, Vijay Bhushan said he had no information about Imran’s alleged arrest in Rae Bareli on March 22.

“On March 28, Jammu and Kashmir Police gave us information about Imran. We were in search of him since then. Suddenly, we got information that he was boarding a bus to Sitapur from Qaiserbagh, Lucknow on April 7. We followed him. He got down from the bus near Attaria railway station. On seeing us, he tried to run away from the station, but the STF and J&K Police nabbed him. There was no police official from Sitapur with us at that time.”

Asked why the J&K Police were able to produce warrants before the Rae Bareli SP, but were unable to do so in a Sitapur court, Bhushan said only the J&K Police could answer the question.
