Will Smith to do sequels to Independence Day

Actor Will Smith, who was last seen in Seven Pounds, is all set to play Captain Steve Hiller Will in two sequels to the hit sci-fi film Independence Day.

Actor Will Smith, who was last seen in Seven Pounds, is all set to play Captain Steve Hiller Will in the sequels to the hit sci-fi film Independence Day.

Contactmusic.com reports the two sequels will be shot back-to-back in 2011 and director Roland Emmerich and writer Dean Devlin already have a story for the first sequel.

Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman has previously confirmed he wants to make a sequel to the sci-fi movie, which grossed over $800 million at the box office when it was released in 1996.

Smith recently completed The Karate Kid, which stars his son Jaden Smith, 11.
