Wizards edged out on home patch

Chandigarh Comets edged out Delhi Wizards by a solitary goal in the World Series Hockey at the National Stadium on Wednesday. The all-important goal was scored by Gurjinder Singh in the 63rd minute via a penalty corner.
With this win, the the Comets also improved their tally from nine to 12 points, while the Wizards have seven points from as many matches.
Much was expected of the Delhi team, but they failed to grab the opportunities that came by to suffer another loss on home turf.
Led by Pakistan forward Shakeel Abbasi, in place of former India skipper Rajpal Singh, they failed to click. German striker Philip Sunkel, too, was off colour as he missed several chances. "We lost initiative and the match too," said Abbasi on the missed chances.
On the other hand, the Comets made most of the chances and inched closer to a last-four berth. "The credit goes to the defenders, who thwarted the Delhi team's attacks," said coach Harendra Singh.
The Wizards play Bhopal Badshahs on Thursday.
