Woman alleges husband kept her in chains for 10 years in Ujjain

A woman has alleged that her husband kept her in chains at their house in Ujjain for a period of 10 years. A case was lodged in this regard at Mahila thana after the woman approached the police.

In a bizzare incident, a wife has alleged that her husband kept her in chains for 10 years. A case was lodged in this regard at Mahila thana on Monday.

Navita, a resident of Shastri Nagar got married to Pravin of Mahakal Ghati in November 2000. According to thana in-charge of mahila Thana Anuradha Girwal, everything moved smoothly for the couple for four years but after that Pravib starting suspecting his wife's character.

And from here started the torturous life of Navita. "She in her complaint alleged that she was beaten everyday and was not allowed to move out of house. As if beating was not enough, she was tied to chains during night," said the TI.

After some time, in June 2014, Navita was thrown out of house. But the ordeal for her did not end there. "Pravin used to go to his in-laws house and used to beat her up there as well," Navita alleged in her complaint. She lodged a case on Monday against her husband.

Raid on bakery factory

City magistrate Rohan Saxena on Monday raided a bakery factory being run illegally at Mohan nagar area. The factory was being run without licence. The raiding team also found three children working in the factory. According to Saxena, the factory had employed children as labourers.

Former MLA penalised

Former MLA of Nagda Dilipsingh Gurjar and 17 others were awarded 15 months of imprisonment on Monday for organising a blockade to protest power cuts nine years back.
