Woman dies of swine flu in Gujarat

A 23-year-old woman succumbed to swine flu at Surat civil hospital, taking the statewide toll to 12.

"Maya Agrawal died on Sunday at Surat civil hospital, but her test result for H1N1 came positive on Monday," principal secretary (health) Ravi Saxena told PTI.

"The woman was admitted to the hospital on September 2 with swine flu symptoms. She was later shifted to a private hospital on September 4 after her condition become critical", he said.

"On September 5, Agrawal was transferred to Surat civil hospital again and her swab samples were sent for testing," he
said, adding that she was on tamiflu.

Agrawal died of acute respiratory problem. She was on ventilator after she was admitted to the civil hospital, Saxena said.

Meanwhile, two more people were tested positive for H1N1 virus on Monday in the city.
