A woman patient undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Vidisha was allegedly raped by a wardboy inside a private ward.

A woman patient undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Vidisha was allegedly raped by a wardboy inside a private ward, police said on Saturday.

The victim's husband, in a complaint lodged with the police, said that the accused, Gulab Khan, called his wife on the pretext of taking her to the nurse, they said.

Instead of going to the nurse, the wardboy took the woman to a private ward where he allegedly raped her last night, police said, adding the accused fled after committing the crime.

He has been suspended from the hospital and a hunt was launched to trace him, they added.
