President of the association Sunit Vyas presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Vyas urged the telephone authorities to make all out efforts to improve the services. He also called upon the authorities to provide more benefits of telecom technology to common men.

Expressing concern over the fact that a large number of telephone connections remain out of order for long period, Vyas referred to the problems particularly rural subscribers, who were facing difficulty for poor maintenance of telephone exchange. It was also suggested that satisfactory telephone exchange should be set up in the villages.

He called for speeding up the grant of new telephone connections to applicants, who were in waiting list for a long time and were still without a telephone despite the considerable increase of capacity after the commissioning of the electronic exchange, particularly in rural areas.

He also expressed concern over the move to make the basic telephone facility further costly. He also demanded 50 per cent of rebate on telephone rental on one phone to senior citizen and accredited journalists.
