Yaad Ki Rehguzar - Shuakat Kaifi's journey
Acclaimed theatre actress and mother of noted actress Shabana Azmi, Shaukat Kaifi turned author as she penned her life's journey in a book of memoirs titled Yaad Ki Rehguzar, which was launched in Mumbai recently.

Kaifi's memoir offers to its readers a glimpse into her life as a theatre artist, and as the wife urdu poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi.
Talking about the book, Shaukat Kaifi Azmi said, "It is based on my real life incidents. I had plenty of ups and downs in my life which I have jotted down in this book. And, I am sure that this book will touch the hearts of readers.
Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Om Puri, Naseerudin Shah, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Ishita Arun, legendary actor Shashi Kapoor and other celebrities from theatre and movies graced the occasion.
Daughter Shabana Azmi revealed that it was Javed Akhtar who had been her mother's biggest encourager while she was writing her memoirs.
"I encourage her because I have really liked the passages that I have read but the credit goes to Javed Akhtar because it was Javed who was after her, after he read it (the book), he said he will not let it go till she finishes the book as she stopped writing the book after my father passed away. And it is because of Javed's encouragement that she has been able to finish the book."
Kaifi, besides being a respected name in the theatre circles, was also seen in some Hindi flicks like Umrao Jaan and Garam Hawa.
