A RALLY against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) divisional organisation secretary Arvind Menon was taken out by Youth Congress (YC) activists from Gandhi Bhawan to Rajwada Square today. The activists also burnt Menon’s effigy at 51 places in the City for his alleged involvement in a murder case.

According to YC block president Deepak Maloriya and City president Devendra Singh Yadav, the aim of the rally and burning of effigies was to highlight the connection of Menon with Meharban Singh murder case, so that he could not escape conviction using his political clout.

It may be recalled that Shravan Kumar, an Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) employee attached to the City BJP office, had murdered his father Meharban Singh in the office and then used the Toyota Qualis owned by Menon to dispose the body. Kumar remained in hiding in the City BJP office until his arrest.

Yadav said that first BJP men made stories to confuse the murder case and later facilitated the arrest of Kumar, which clearly casts aspersions on the integrity of their motives. The activists demanded that Menon be made co-accused in the murder case and his vehicle, which was incriminating evidence, be seized.
