Two-time World cup winner and 2003's undisputed world number one women's table tennis player Zhang Yining hopes Athens will be the stage where a she will be able to step away from the shadow of her best friend and doubles partner Wang Nan.

Wang Nan has beaten Zhang in the World Championship finals in 1999 and successfully defended it a year later. Whereas Zhang had to be satisfied with the third position. She has taken a title from Wang only once when she won the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.
