AS only one-day is left for the election of zila panchayat chief, candidates are making all out efforts to get support of the voters.

There are only two candidates in the fray and both are supported by two leading parties of the State. Dr Om Prakash Tripathi of the BSP and Seema Sachan of SP are in the fray.

However, the supporters of both candidates are alleging each other for creating panic among the voters by all means to gain their support. Dr Tripathi said that he was leading the race with the support of 17 zila panchayat members out of total 27 members.

Tripathi cited an example and said that a candidate having leaning with BJP candidate Mahavir Pasi, was misbehaved by the SP supporters few days back.

However, SP MLA Rakesh Sachan and husband of SP supported candidate Seema Sachan alleged that BSP activists were issuing threatening calls to zila panchayat members and three days back member from Maharajpur zila panchayat was abducted by the BSP supporters. However, the matter was informed to district administration and extra security arrangement has been made for the safety of members, Sachan added.

Only one day is left for the voting, which would take place on January 7, 2006 and supporters of both the candidates are claiming their victory by saying that they were being given maximum support. The sources said since both candidates were not having clear support from the members, therefore, to ensure their victory both candidate and their supporters are adopting all tactics to gain support.
