Indore court awards 7-year RI to two brothers in acid attack case

Two brothers were sentenced to seven-years rigorous imprisonment by a court in Indore for seriously injuring a woman by throwing acid on her in 2012. It also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of them.

Additional sessions judge Iqbal Gauri Khan awarded the sentence on Tuesday to Satish Raghuwanshi (36) and his brother Sachin Raghuwanshi (26) under section 326 of the IPC and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each of them.

The accused had thrown acid on Shobha Raghuwanshi (38) in Banganga area on May 20, 2012 causing her serious injuries following which she remained under treatment for long.

The woman was the elder sister of their brother-in-law Rajendra Raghuwanshi.

The accused threw acid on her as she took her brother's side in a dispute over a property belonging to their (Satish and Sachin's) dead father.
