The doctors, demanding security for them at the hospital, had refused to join duty on Tuesday resulting in a chaos at the hospital. The strike was called off on Wednesday after a meeting with the dean, MGM Medical College and divisional commissioner Sanjay Dubey.

“We had a detailed meeting with the divisional commissioner. He has assured us that security will be increased and the doctors will be at ease while working at the hospital,” said Dr Mohit Neruda, president of the junior doctors association. The divisional commissioner has sought three-day time to fulfil the demands.

“We have been asked to have a meeting with him regarding all our proposals and then a suitable option would be provided by him. But increasing the number of security guards is on the cards,” added Dr Neruda.

The attack on a junior doctor by the relatives of a patient on Monday had prompted the association to go on a strike.

A similar incident was held on Sunday when a patient had attacked two doctors with a razor and had also attacked a policeman when they tried to calm him down.
