Primary schools to remain closed till Jan 8 in Indore
The district administration on Monday extended winter vacations for primary classes till January 8, following persistence of cold-wave conditions. The vacations were to end on January 5, according to official sources.
The vacations were to end on January 5, according to official sources. However, the city recorded the maximum temperature of 18.4 degrees Celsius on Monday which was about 8 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 7.5 degrees Celsius—3 degrees below normal. This was the third consecutive day when the temperature ruled around 8 degrees below normal.
According to the district administration’s notification, the play schools, nursery schools and primary classes (Class 1 - Class 8) will remain closed till January 8. However, the secondary and higher secondary classes will start functioning only after 9am from Tuesday.
The recent spell of rain coupled with cold winds from the western and central parts of the country had brought the temperature down to 7.3 degrees Celsius in the last week.
