Six held for pelting stones on religious procession in Khandwa

Minor tension prevailed in Khandwa after an incident of stone pelting was reported during a Ramnavami procession. Police have arrested six people for pelting stones and extra police force has been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.

The incident occurred around 10pm when the procession reached a minority dominated area, the police said.

Fearing communal clash the police immediately swung into action and took the situation under control, Kotwali police station in-charge Vijay Sisodiya said. However, to control a mob in Jalebi area, the police fired tear gas shells.
