IPL 2017: Gujarat Lions’ Brendon McCullum, Nathu Singh ruled out with injuries

Gujarat Lions’ Brendon McCullum and Nathu Singh have been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2017 due to injuries. The former New Zealand captain endured a strain in his left hamstring during the game vs Delhi Daredevils on Friday. As for Nathu, he is out due to back spasms.

Gujarat Lions opening batsman Brendon McCullum and pace bowler Nathu Singh were on Friday ruled out of the remainder of the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injuries.

While McCullum endured a strain in his left hamstring during fielding against Delhi Daredevils on Thursday, Nathu suffered back spasms during Lions’ home game in Rajkot against Kings XI Punjab. The fast bowler hasn’t played a game since then.

“The New Zealander has been advised 3-4 weeks of intensive rehabilitation so as to not aggravate the damage in his hamstring,” said a Gujarat Lions statement on Friday.

The Gujarat Lions have had a dismal season in the IPL so far after topping the league phase standings last year. Out of the 11 games they have played so far, the Rajkot-based team have won only three and lost eight.

With three back-to-back losses, the Suresh Raina-led outfit are already out of contention for the playoffs after losing to the Daredevils by seven wickets on Thursday night in New Delhi.
