State health department sources said an elderly person, undergoing chemotherapy treatment for multiple myeloma, died of H1N1 infection at a private hospital on July 20.

Swine flu cases were on the rise due to the onset of monsoon, Nodal officer (for swine flu), Asit Biswas, said.

He said the affected were receiving treatment at state-run hospitals and in private hospitals.

It had been decided to identify areas already affected by the swine flu infection, the health department sources said. Measures have been taken there by the department to prevent spread of the disease.
