Accused in Kolkata campus violence case granted bail

Five students who were arrested in connection with the clash between rival student unions belonging to Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) at Asutosh College here on December 16, were granted bail today.

Five students who were arrested in connection with the clash between rival student unions belonging to Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) at Asutosh College here on December 16, were granted bail on Saturday. Of the jailed students, three; Koushik Majhi, Karan Chowhan and Ram Mohon Chaurasia belonging to the Trinamool Chatra Parishad were arrested yesterday, while Suvam Mitra and Rishab Sarkar of the SFI were arrested on Saturday itself.

The five were produced at the Alipore court and granted conditional bail against personal bonds of Rs 2000 each. A student, Souvik Hazra, was seriously injured in the clash and has been taken to Hyderabad for treatment, while eight others with minor injuries were released after first aid.
