“We will partner Mamata Banerjee. But we will not do it without honour,” he said.

State Congress leaders have been upset over the scant regard Banerjee has shown the party, which heads the ruling alliance at the centre.

“Mamataji is a senior leader. She has worked with my father. We are going to hold hands and fight the Left here. But there should be respect in the relations between the two allies,” Gandhi said.

On West Bengal politics, Gandhi said, “The biggest problem of Bengal is the Left Front. Even the Cubans are changing. When I go to China senior leaders ask me with a smile what is happening in Bengal...” Gandhi said.
