If you are using your microwave to re-heat leftovers or frozen food, it is time you quickly whip up a healthy and fun meal! Preparing your meal on a fast-forwarded mode may seem like a chore when you are rushing to get ready or are too tired after work to cook something. Instead of grabbing a handful of chips or ordering chinese take-out, check out our easy recipes that you can put together in your microwave under fifteen minutes or even less.
From mac ‘n’ cheese, in a cup for on-the-go eating to a mug cake for occasional sinful midnight binges, go ahead and put the trusted old machine to good use.
4 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa powder,
4 tbsp self-rising flour, 3 tbsp milk,
3 tbsp vegetable oil, 4 tbsp Nutella,
Whisk all ingredients in a mug with a fork until smooth. Bake the mixture for 1.5 mins. Once the cake has risen, put some whipped cream and enjoy!
1/3 cup pasta, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
Mix pasta and water in a big coffee mug. Microwave on high mode for two minutes, then stir. The water may overflow while it heats up. Stir at each 2-minute interval to allow the water to be absorbed completely. If the pasta needs another minute, add one more teaspoon of water and microwave for another minute. Once it is done, remove it from the microwave and stir in the milk and cheese. Microwave for another minute. Stir the cheese thoroughly into the pasta and eat up!
Holiday chicken salad
2 boneless chicken breast (sliced into pieces), 1/2 cup chicken broth, 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 tsp paprika, 1 1/2 cups dried cranberries, 1 cup chopped celery, 2 green onions, 1/2 cup minced green bell pepper, 1 tsp salt, black pepper to taste, 2 garlic cloves
Put the chicken pieces in a microwave-proof bowl. Add garlic, salt, pepper and chicken broth to it. Microwave it for 4 minutes or till the chicken is fully cooked. Mix it with mayonnaise, paprika, dried cranberries, celery. Chill for a hour. Bon appetit!
1 egg, 2 slices brown bread, 5 tbsp grated cheese, 1 tbsp butter, a slice of cooked ham, 2 tbsp milk, salt and pepper to taste
Melt butter, in a cup, in the microwave. Take it out and swirl it to coat the inside of the cup. Crack the egg into the cup. Add cheese, milk, salt and pepper. Whisk up the ingredients with a fork until it is blended well. Microwave the mixture on high mode, for a minute and a half to cook the egg thoroughly. Remove the cooked egg from the cup, and place it on a slice of bread. Place the sliced ham on it and top it with the other slice of bread. Your quick egg sandwich is ready to devour while you are on the go.
500 gms unpeeled, scrubbed potatoes, 2 tsp extra-virgin olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt
Slice potatoes into thin (1/8-inch) rounds. Then, toss the slices in a medium bowl with oil and salt to coat them evenly. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on a microwave-proof plate. Microwave, uncovered on high, depending on potato thickness, until the slices start to brown. Turn the slices over and continue until they start to crisp and brown around the edges. Once done, allow the chips to cool completely. Package them in air-tight containers to eat whenever you feel like having a quick snack.
