Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Sunday said the Lok Sabha election 2019 would be contested on the issue of development versus corruption.

He mocked at the alliance of opposition parties, saying they didn’t have any prime ministerial candidate.

“Opposition leaders have come together due to fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Everyone wants to defeat Modi, but no one wants to contest the polls,” said Shah who claimed that the Narendra Modi regime worked on the slogan ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ and implemented various schemes for farmers, housewives and those deprived.

Shah was addressing a rally in favour of SP Singh Baghel, BJP candidate from Agra (reserved) seat. He was accompanied by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

“Governments are not elected for fulfilling one’s wish to become prime minister but to ensure development of those deprived, ensure nation’s security, end terrorism and to give befitting reply to Pakistan,” stated Shah.

He claimed there had been no corruption charge on the BJP regime at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh and thus this Lok Sabha election was on the issue of development versus corruption.

“The previous regime at the Centre never gave a reply to the nefarious designs of Pakistan. But Pakistan forgot that now the Indian government is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and conducted strikes across the border,” claimed Shah.

“Rahul Gandhi should stop insulting the armed forces merely for vote-bank politics,” he added.

“We have given Rs 8 lakh crore for development schemes in UP and assured development in the state, including Agra, which will be provided pure drinking water,” said Shah.

Addressing the gathering, chief minister Yogi Adityanath chanted the slogan ‘UP karega 74 paar, abki baar Modi sarkar’.

“In LS election-2014, we had the name of Narendra Modi, but in 2019 we have both – name and development work of Narendra Modi. Everyone in the nation, who is patriotic, wants him to be the PM again. It is because of him that we had a successful Kumbh at Prayagraj recognised by Unesco,” said Yogi Adityanath.

“Earlier, there were riots in the state and law & order was in a shambles. But now criminals are either in jail or are dead,” claimed the chief minister.
