Lok Sabha polls 2019: Pawan Kalyan’s brother joins Jana Sena, to contest from Narasapuram in Andhra Pradesh

Nagababu is the second brother of popular hero and former Union minister Chiranjeevi, while Pawan Kalyan, also a film star, is the youngest of the three.

Popular character actor in Telugu films Konidela Nagababu on Wednesday joined Jana Sena Party headed by his younger brother Pawan Kalyan.

Nagababu met Pawan Kalyan at the Jana Sena Party office in Vijayawada, following which he was announced as the candidate by Pawan Kalyan. (PTI)

Nagababu met Pawan Kalyan at the Jana Sena Party office in Vijayawada. Immediately, the Jana Sena Party chief announced Nagababu as the party candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Narasapuram constituency in West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.

Incidentally, Bhimavaram assembly segment, from were Pawan Kalyan is contesting the assembly elections, falls under Narasapuram parliamentary constituency.

Nagababu is the second brother of popular hero and former Union minister Chiranjeevi, while Pawan Kalyan, also a film star, is the youngest of the three. Both Nagababu and Pawan Kalyan were part of the Praja Rajyam Party floated by Chiranjeevi in August 2008, but they did not contest the elections.

With Praja Rajyam Party failing to make an impact in May 2009 assembly elections, Chiranjeevi later merged it with the Congress and was elected as a Rajya Sabha member. He later became the Union minister of state for tourism, while Pawan Kalyan parted ways with his brother and floated Jana Sena Party ahead of 2014 general elections.

Though Nagababu did not join Jana Sena all these years, he has been extending moral support to Pawan Kalyan for quite some time. Of late, he has been conducting meetings Jana Sena party workers and fans of his younger brother. Now, he has formally joined the party to take a plunge into electoral politics.

On the other hand, Chiranjeevi, who completed his Rajya Sabha term in 2018, has been keeping away from active politics, though he has not quit the Congress, and has since returned to film industry. However, his fans associations have pledged their support to Pawan Kalyan in the ongoing general elections.
