Mayawati reshuffles Cabinet

The chief minister reshuffles portfolios of her council of ministers shedding the load of three departments, gaining one, reports Umesh Raghuvanshi.

Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday reshuffled portfolios of her council of ministers shedding the load of three departments, gaining one. Besides Mayawati who now has been left with 41 departments the reshuffle has also affected four other ministers as well.

Chief minister has taken out agriculture foreign trade, agriculture exports and Khadi and Village Industries departments and added Women Welfare to her own portfolio. Mayawati has taken out Women Welfare from the portfolio of Indrajeet Saroj who has been now given additional charge of SC/ST Welfare, Agriculture Foreign Trade and Agriculture Export portfolios.

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Omvati has been deprived of Technical Education and gets charge of Khadi and Village Industry departments. The SC/ST Welfare has been taken away from Minister of State (Independent Charge) Sadal who now gets charge of Technical Education department. The Minister of State for Khadi and Village Industries Sangram Singh now becomes Minister of State for Textiles and Sericulture.
