Security of UP government offices to be upped

A team under the leadership of speaker of legislative assembly Hirday Narayan Dikshit will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra after the conclusion of the Budget session to study the security arrangements in the assembly of both the states and include them in the plan for the UP assembly.

Security of all the buildings housing state government departments will be strengthened along with the Vidhan Bhawan’s.

A team under the leadership of speaker of legislative assembly Hirday Narayan Dikshit will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra after the conclusion of the Budget session to study the security arrangements in the assembly of both the states and include them in the plan for the UP assembly.

Already, a decision to set up modern control rooms in the Vidhan Bhawan as well as Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan in which Chief Minister’s office is located has been taken . Entry of people and vehicles will be monitored in the Vidhan Bhawan, Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan, Lok Bhawan, Bapu Bhawan, Jawahar Bhawan, Indira Bhawan and other state government offices round the clock.

Talking to HT, principal secretary, Home, Arvind Kumar said, “Security of the Vidhan Bhawan has been strengthened. ATS commandoes and extra security personnel have been deployed and instructions given by the speaker regarding the Vidhan Bhawan were being implemented.”

The state government has also written a letter to the central government for probe into the recovery of explosive in the Vidhan sabha by National Investigation Agency (NIA). An NIA team was already assisting the UP ATS in the investigation, he said.

A senior police officer said the secretariat area that included the CM and state government offices had been declared as a high security zone. Quick reaction team and Provincial Armed Constabulary will be deployed in the area to manage its security.

The security of Kalidas Marg, on which the CM and his ministers’ residence are located, as well as Gautampalli, Vikramaditya Marg, Mall Avenue and Raj Bhawan that is considered VIP area will be also strengthened.

The Budget session will resume on Tuesday. The speaker office’s on Monday cancelled 1080 vehicle and 425 entry passes for the Vidhan Bhawan. People entering the Vidhan Bhawan excluding the MLAs will be frisked. Police verification of the temporary and daily wage staff posted in Vidhan Bhawan also commenced today.
