Even as the police have launched a manhunt to nab the people involved in the distribution of the Kaval video CD showing a mob lynching two youths, a fresh video of the communal violence has gone viral on social networking sites like Facebook.
IG (STF) Ashish Gupta said the police was trying to identify the people involved in uploading the new video.
The state police has shot off a letter to Facebook requesting it to block the video. According to Gupta, the police are also trying to locate the IP address of the computer from which the video has been uploaded. Gupta said that once the address was identified, the guilty could be found with ease.
The police are concerned about the video being repeatedly shared on Facebook. Tension still prevails in the districts of West UP and the video might add fuel to the communal clashes.
The state government has already announced a Rs 1 lakh reward for those who provide information about the persons spreading the video.
The video was shot in a tribal area of Pakistan and was posted on the social networking site Facebook, as the murder clipping of Kaval area in Muzaffarnagar.
Home secretary Kamal Saxena said the video played a major role in flaring up the communal tension in the West UP and other parts of the state.
On Friday the state police gave an advertisement in the print media urging the people to inform the police about the anti social elements involved in the distribution of the CD.
IG Gupta added that a few people had called the police control room and said that a CD of the video was being distributed in Indore and other parts of the country as well.
