2 drug addicts in Mumbai try to steal phone, 1 arrested

The accused and his friend planned to steal a rickshaw driver’s phone as they did not have money to smoke weed.

A 30-year-old drug addict was arrested in Kalyan on Sunday for attempting to snatch a man’s mobile phone, while his partner managed to flee.

The 30-year-old accused, Hasnain Ansari, a resident of Kalyan, and his friend, planned to steal a rickshaw driver’s phone as they did not have money to smoke weed.

“The driver, Sagar Pimple, caught Ansari’s hand in the process,” said the Khadakpada police. The duo pushed Pimple, who began to scream and Ansari was caught by a watchman.

“We are searching for Ansari’s friend. We arrested Ansari under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” said the police.
