The Ambernath police arrested a 60-year-old man for raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter over a period of seven years. A year ago, the girl also gave birth to the man’s child. The accused in police custody till August 24.

A police officer from Thane commissionerate said, “The man had helped the girl’s mother financially before marrying her. After their marriage, the girl, her brother and her mother started living with the him. The girl’s mother was aware of the incident but was scared because the man would threaten her and also physically assault them both.”

Police said the man had made a video of his act, and threatened to circulate it if the girl disclosed the incident to anyone.

The man raped the girl despite knowing she was pregnant with his child.

“The man continued raping his stepdaughter after she delivered his son. She finally gathered courage and told her friend about her ordeal, who then advised her to lodge a complaint with the police. The man was arrested immediately after the complaint. His medical tests have been conducted,” added the officer.
