9-year-old boy run over by a speeding car near Mumbai
The Class 4 student was going to a playground in Tarapur when the incident occurred.
A 9-year-old boy died after the bicycle he was riding was hit by a speeding SUV in Tarapur, 128 kms from Mumbai, on Monday. Subhra Mishra, 35, who was driving the car, was arrested.

Mishra’s husband is a nuclear scientist at the Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS).
Himanshu Bhoir, 9, a Class 4 student of the Atomic Energy Central School, was going to a playground when the incident occurred, said API Sarjerao Kumbhar of Tarapur police station. The accused was speeding and was driving a Gujarat registered SUV that had not been transferred to Maharashtra since 2011, said the official.
“We have arrested Mishra under sections 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC and produced her before the Palghar court on Tuesday,” the cop said. “We will press additional charges under the Motor Vehicle Act, after getting the details from the Palghar RTO about the SUV.” Mishra was granted bail later on Tuesday.
