Social activist Anna Hazare has threatened to launch an agitation on the Ramlila ground in Delhi to press the demand for implementation of the Lokpal.
While Hazare did not announce a date for the agitation, he said he continues to receive complaints from citizens from all parts of the country on corruption. “Corruption has not ended. My conscience is asking me to relaunch the agitation”, Hazare said at a press conference in Ahmednagar.
He expressed resentment at the inaction by the Modi government when it came to dealing with corruption.
“Non-implementation of the Lokpal is a great insult to sentiment of the people. No party wants to execute it because they are scared of losing power. The state governments should have implemented it,” Hazare said, adding that political parties had no will to end corruption.
Hazare targeted the Modi government saying that government administration continues to be corrupt despite all promises. “I wrote 40 letters to Manmohan Singh and got a reply for 20. I wrote several letters to Narendra Modi but did not receive a single reply”,Hazare said.
Hazare plans to write another letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said he will raise all the issues related to corruption in the letter. “I was silent for three years but time has come to relaunch the agitation against corruption”, he said.
He said that people had started asking questions on his silence for the past few days but he will continue with his struggle for a clean administration.
