Charkop woman kills daughter, commits suicide

A woman killed her six-year-old daughter and committed suicide in Charkop, Kandivli (West) on Sunday.
The bodies of the woman, Prerana Katakdaund, and her daughter were found around 4pm at their house when Katakdaund’s sister returned home. Katakdaund was found hanging from the ceiling. Preliminary investigations revealed that she strangled her daughter.
The Charkop police said the woman used to stay with her husband and daughter. Officials are probing whether financial trouble caused Katakdaund to commit suicide. A case of murder has been registered at the Charkop police station and the bodies have been sent for an autopsy.
