BJP Colaba corporator Makarand Narvekar was allegedly beaten up as the Sena and BJP got into a heated debate at the GST event held at the headquarters.
State finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Wednesday presented a Rs647-crore cheque to Mumbai mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
Warring allies Sena and BJP got into a slogan-protest, with Sena leaders abusing PM Narendra Modi.
Reacting to the alleged heckling of a BJP corporator, Sena corporators said it was a stunt by Narvekar to grab attention.
Sena corporator Kishori Pednekar said, “He [Narvekar] is trying to grab attention. Even if what he is saying is true, the Sena takes pride in it.”
Speaking to the media, Narvekar said the Sena’s mob mentality has come to light again. “It is a historic day for the city.”
Narvekar said he was heckled and not allowed to step inside the BMC by Sainiks.
