Muslims across the country are celebrating Eid-al-Fitr, the festival marks the culmination of fasting and the holy month of Ramzan, today.

Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.

The fast is broken with a meal called Iftar, which includes food prepared exclusively for the occasion. It is a time for grand eating and merrymaking.
