The Maharashtra government has launched a new comprehensive job portal —‘Mahaswayam’ – a combination of skill development, employment and entrepreneurship.

The portal will also make it easier for the state government to keep count of registered candidates, entrepreneurs, training institutes, number of skilled candidates, total job-getters and self-employed users.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who launched the website on Tuesday, called it one stop shop.

Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar, skill development and entrepreneurship minister, said the aim was to provide a common platform to all three sectors. “Here the job-seekers get the right platform, while the employers get the right candidates. We will be able to keep track of the market, so we can provide required skills to the youth,” said Nilangekar.

The web portal will have features for the candidates like registration, job search, job application, enquiry for training, information regarding self employment and job fair details. In contrast, the training institutes will provide details of details of participation in the state skill development programme and their registration.

The entrepreneurs will get a platform for job vacancy advertisements and online loan applications.

Earlier, the state government ran three different portals – Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) portal for Skill Development, Maharojgar for employment and Mahaswayamrojgar for entrepreneurship. These three have now been merged to simplify the entire process.
