The alleged accused is yet to be identified but it is suspected to be resident of Thane.

According to the Kasarwadavli police, the accused —around 45 years of age — visited the laboratory as a patient and opted to get his urine tested.

An officer from Kasarwadavli police station said, “When the accused entered the lab, he shut the door and told the survivor that he wanted to get his urine tested as he was suffering from some medical problems. While the woman went to get a container to collect urine, the man undressed and held up a sharp weapon to threaten the survivor.”

He added, “Once the woman entered the room, the accused allegedly forced her to touch him inappropriately and also asked her to kiss him. The survivor has also claimed that the accused sodomized her. We are investigating the case now.”

After the incident, the accused bolted the door of the room from outside and fled the spot. The survivor was sent for medical tests and the results are awaited.

“We are checking with CCTV footages of the nearby areas and have formed a team to nab the accused. We are also checking with the locals to find out the identity of the accused,” said Santosh Dembere, the investigating officer from Kasarwadavli police station.

Also commenting on the matter, senior police inspector D Tele said, “A similar incident had occurred in Thane almost a couple of years ago. The survivor in the recent case is still in shock. We have made a sketch of the accused based on the description given by the survivor and have distributed it among othet police stations to trace him.”

The accused has been booked under section 377(Unnatural offences) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
