Man gets dragged by train while boarding it, rescued by RPF constable
Before Ravi Salunkhe fell into the gap between the platform and the train, a railway constable, Vinod Shinde (37) pulled him off the train and saved him.
A 25-year-old man from Alibaug, who tried to board a train unsuccessfully at Panvel station, was dragged for over 50 metres on Saturday.

Luckily, before Ravi Salunkhe fell into the gap between the platform and the train, a railway constable, Vinod Shinde (37) pulled him off the train and saved him.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the platform.
According to the police, Salunkhe had a reserved seat booked in the Panvel-Nanded Express, but as he reached the platform No. 7, the train was already pulling out.
Salunkhe then tried to board the nearest coach and held the metal handle of the door, but could not reach the footboard as the train had gathered speed, a GRP official at Panvel station said.
“Salunkhe lost his balance and was dragged by the train for over 50 meters. He was about to fall into the gap between the platform and the train,” he said.
On duty railway police force constable, Shinde (37) was on the same platform then. As he spotted Salunkhe being dragged by the train, he came running and rescued him.
One more passenger had tried to save Salunkhe before the constable, but did not succeed.
“Shinde held Salunkhe firmly and pulled him towards the platform. Salunkhe suffered injuries on his knees in the accident. We later sent him to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the GRP officer said.
