A marketing executive from the city was arrested for sending an obscene message to a woman on Facebook.

Hanson Lobo, a Virar resident, has allegedly been targeting a 28-year-old woman, who works as a manager at a multinational bank. The police said he has been posting obscene comments on her Facebook wall.

Lobo, 25, started sending abusive messages to the woman and would also post obscene comments on her wall. In one case, he uploaded a post with derogatory comments on her wall, the woman told the Malwani police.

“Lobo was not friends with the woman, he did not even know her. He confessed he was only doing this to harass her,” said Deepak Phatangare, senior inspector at the Malwani police station.

The police started investigating the case and traced Lobo after finding out that he worked at a renowned marketing company in Dadar. He was arrested and confessed to the crime when questioned, said officials.

An officer said they were checking if Lobo targeted only this woman or was harassing others too.

He has been booked for sexual harassment under sections of the Indian Penal Code and other sections of Information Technology Act. Lobo was produced at a metropolitan court on Saturday that remanded him in police custody till August 10.
