Mumbai man arrested for touching woman inappropriately at Dadar station

The Mumbai Central Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a man for allegedly molesting a woman on the railway platform at Dadar.

The Mumbai Central Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a man for allegedly molesting a woman on the railway platform at Dadar.

According to the GRP, the 26-year-old victim was on her way from Churchgate to Chembur at 9.30pm on Saturday. The police officers said that after the victim alighted the fast local at Dadar and was standing on platform 4, the accused, identified as Mayur Suryakant Gahkutkar, 30, approached her and touched her inappropriately. The woman screamed and raised an alarm, after which the GRP constables on the platform arrested the man.

The police have arrested Gahkutkar for outraging the modesty of a woman under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to statistics, a woman is molested or eve teased on the Mumbai Railway premises everyday .
