Mumbai real estate agent stabs beautician wife to death, commits suicide

Mumbai city news: Their 18-year-old son, who lives with his aunt in Kalyan, tried calling them, to no avail.

Real estate agent Vijju Shankar Shinde, 46, allegedly stabbed his beautician wife, Babita, 36, to death and later hanged himself from the fan on Wednesday, said police.

The incident took place at Sai Jetha building at Pantnagar area in Ghatkopar (east).

On Wednesday morning, neighbours heard commotion from the flat. The home remained shut throughout the day.

Their 18-year-old son, who lives with his aunt in Kalyan, tried calling them, to no avail. Then, his uncle Sunil and he reached Ghatkopar. “The son came with his uncle as they thought something was suspicious. They found the door locked after which they informed us,” said a police officer.

The police broke open the door to find Babita on the floor, and Vijju hanging.

The police have registered a case of murder against Vijju. Police found stab injuries on Babita.

Prima facie investigation revealed there were frequent skirmishes between the couple .
