Private bus falls into river creek near Mumbai, 32 hurt

While the bus had 55 passenger seats, 65 people were found to be travelling in the vehicle.

A private bus fell into a 60-70 feet deep creek at Ambadi road, towards Vajreshwari in Bhiwandi, on Sunday evening after the driver lost control over the vehicle while crossing the Shaitani bridge. Thirty-two people were injured, but no casualties were reported.

A police officer at the Ganeshpuri Bhiwandi rural police station said, “the passengers in the bus included the groom and his relatives, who are residents of Chittod village in Dhule. They were on their way to the wedding location in Vasai, where the bride’s family resides.”

According to the passengers’ statements to the police, some of them had warned the driver to drive slowly.

While the bus had 55 passenger seats, 65 people were found to be travelling in the vehicle.

The injured passengers were immediately rushed to the hospital and a case has been registered against the bus driver.
