The local magistrate court on Sunday extended custody of Islamic Research Foundation’s (IRF) guest relation officer Arshid Qureshi and another suspect Rizwan Khan to September 14.

Both have been booked for alleged radicalisation of Kerala youths who later left to join the ISIS. Earlier, they were arrested by the Kerala police and after their inquiry, Mumbai crime branch took their custody.

Another accused, Mohammad Haneef, a maulavi from Kerala, was first arrested in the case by Mumbai crime branch is currently in judicial custody.

“It is very difficult to prove that they have convinced people to join their community or ISIS. We have not found any concrete evidence against them related to the case,” added the officer.

On Sunday, the crime branch officer pleaded that they needed to interrogate the accused further to unearth the entire network, following which the court extended the custody till September 14.
