Mumbai-bound trains were halted for around 25 minutes after two gatemen noticed a rail fracture near the Umroli road station in Boisar on Saturday around 4.15 pm. Traffic is now slowly getting back to normal.

The two – identified as Rahul and Gangadhar – alerted the traffic department immediately, following which the maintenance staff was rushed to the site.
A western railway (WR) spokesperson, said, “The rail fracture was fixed by undertaking a joint and the faulty track will be replaced after a small mega block. It could have occurred due to low temperatures in the area.”
The WR will issue appreciation certificates to the two gatemen in the due, he added.
