Seven girls fall sick after meal at Bandra eatery

Seven teenagers were rushed to VN Desai Hospital in Santacruz as they fell sick after eating at a Bandra restaurant.

Doctors at the hospital said that their condition was stable, but a medico-legal case had been registered at the Vakola Police station

Sachin Kasare, a social activist, said the girls were rushed to the hospital by the locals after they started vomiting outside Devi Prasad restaurant of Kher Nagar in Bandra.

“The girls, between 11 and 15 years, were celebrating a birthday party. But after coming out of the restaurant, they threw up on the street and some felt dizzy. Since they were unaccompanied, local shop-owners rushed them to the hospital,” said Kasare.

Doctors at the hospital said that the girls were brought to the hospital at 10.30pm. “Some of them were dizzy, were throwing up and had loose motion. We made sure that they weren’t dehydrated and put them on ORS. Their condition is stable now,” said Dr Ashok Ghondage, the medical superintendent at the hospital.

The doctors further said that the rice that they ate at the restaurant could have caused the problem.
