Despite staunch opposition, Sena-BJP ruled BMC passed a controversial proposal making it mandatory for civic schools to conduct yoga and surya namaskar. After threatening to go to the High Court, SP has called all its leaders for a mass protest at 3 pm in Azad Maidan tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the party has also written to the municipal commissioner over a controversial circular from the civic education department sent over 10 days ago.

The circular asks schools to conduct yoga session for 10 minutes during the Assembly held everyday. Rais Shaikh, SP corporator wrote, “We seek clarification on the circular. Such impositions are against the fundamental right of any individual. We oppose this move.”
